COMPOSITION FOR
CONCEPT ARTISTS

A Guide to Creating Powerful Designs

There is one timeless element that either makes or breaks all great artworks, whether they are created with oil on canvas, charcoal on paper, or through digital painting on a tablet or Photoshop.

That element is composition

When you get your compositions right, everything else in your artwork tends to fall into place. However, if your composition is weak, everything else will fall apart.

If you have found yourself frustrated that your digital paintings lack interest, depth, or focus, or they just don’t feel right – then this workshop is for you.

Over the span of three days, professional concept artist and illustrator Tyler Edlin will show you the essential principles of composition, the grave mistakes to avoid, and his tried and tested techniques you can use to easily improve the quality of your designs and create incredible artworks like these:

Even better, you will be able to watch him create a complete artwork in real time while you can ask questions, and even have the opportunity to have Tyler do a paint-over and give feedback on your work.

In Evenant’s first-ever 3-Day Design Workshop, Tyler will help you demystify the world of composition once and for all, and help you create stunning designs that will immediately captivate your audience.

The workshop, called Art Composition Essentials: Master Your Designs will be running on the 9th, 10th, 11th of April, with a 90-120 minute stream each day.

If you’ve been looking to improve your designs, take your art and compositions to a new level, and get feedback and instruction from an accomplished professional artist, now is your chance.

Here’s the workshop outline:

  • Day 1: Composition Fundamentals and Mistakes To Avoid
On the first day, Tyler will show you some of the most important aspects of composition, some simple techniques and principles to follow, and the top mistakes to avoid at all cost.

  • Day 2: From Idea To Finished Painting
Watch as Tyler creates a new painting completely from scratch, while demonstrating the different principles and tools discussed on Day 1. This is where you will be able to see his entire workflow from beginning to end, ask questions along the way, and see how the composition comes alive piece by piece.

  • Day 3: Feedback and Questions
On the final day, Tyler will be going over student submissions, giving feedback, and doing live paint-overs, as well as answering any remaining questions that you might have. (Paint-overs for feedback pass holders only, see details below).

What You Get In The Workshop

  • 3 days of 90-120 minute live lessons and demos with Tyler Edlin
