Introduction To Matte Painting

Matte paintings are photorealistic landscape and environment paintings. Matte painting combines regular painting using brushes and tools together with photo manipulation.

This makes it very useful for use as backgrounds in productions such as games, movies, tv shows, and so on where extra realism is required, and you don’t want to actually build an entire set or create it all in 3D.
